New Semester, New You

Getting back into the swing of things can be a difficult task after the holidays.
But it’s time to hit the ground running and start strong with a new semester. Here are our best tips to help you get prepared!
Get Your School Supplies and Textbooks in Order
Start fresh with new supplies and get rid of anything that you don’t need from last semester. It’s a good idea to do an inventory of your school supplies and make sure that you have all the tools you need to be successful this semester.
Treat Yourself
Taking care of yourself and investing in your health in college is not as hard as it may seem. At OSU, there are lots of activities to choose from:
- A variety of fitness classes (beginners are welcome!)
- Rock climbing, racquetball, pick-up basketball, a golf simulator and more at the Colvin
- Intramural Sports
- The REBOOT Center with games, relaxation spaces, and more
- Visits every Friday from Pete’s Pet Posse
Pro Tip: Download the Wellness App! You can use it to check into the Colvin, sign up for fitness classes and more.
Make the Most of Your Time Here on Campus
OSU wants everyone to feel like they’re home on our campus. There are hundreds of student organizations and events that you can get involved in. You can do anything! Ranging from dancing all day for the kids at Cowboython to a League of Legends tournament with the Gamers of OSU, there’s something for everyone!
Most importantly, lean in to making memories with your fellow students this semester and experiencing all the excitement that college brings!
Pro Tip: Sporting events are always fun even if you don’t know the difference between a free throw and a three-pointer. Yay sports!
Set Yourself Up for Success in Class
Set the tone for the semester by committing to staying on schedule with your assignments and going to class. However you choose to prepare, get deadlines and test dates organized and set reminders so nothing sneaks up on you!

Put your best foot forward when meeting your new professors. Come prepared and ready to engage in class. They will often take notice, and this can be a huge asset to you in the long run with recommendations, references, and even advice. Don’t underestimate your professor’s ability to help you land your dream job after graduation!
Keep Your Momentum Going
Cowboys don’t just start strong. We finish what we start. Build good habits at the beginning of the semester to help keep your momentum going through the rest of the year.
