Welcome back, Cowboys!
Did you have a nice, relaxing winter break? Are you ready to get back into the swing of things? We sure are!
You have been here for one whole semester now, and you are #slaying this #CollegeLife thing. But before we get started, let’s review a few pointers from last semester.
- Do’s and Don’ts: Social Life
- Exercise… I Thought You Said Extra Fries
- Pete’s Protection Program
- You Matter
- Sick of Being Homesick?
- Get Paid
Now that you are all caught up, let’s talk about this new semester.
While you might think you know everything there is to know about college by now, the spring and fall semesters can be very different. Here are some tips to help you start off strong.
Take a break, kid
We know you just came back from a long break but let’s look ahead. You may not realize it now, but the spring semester actually has fewer breaks than the fall did.
Yes, you read that right. Fewer. Breaks.
BEFORE YOU PANIC, remember, University Counseling Services and Pete’s Pet Posse are always here to help you. Use these resources to your advantage and don’t get stuck in the mid-spring-semester-just-waiting-for-summer funk.
PROTIP: THEY ARE FREE!
Taking a break from studying to go for a walk or grabbing a bite to eat with friends can also do wonders for the mind.
Speaking of the “S” word, try to find new study and homework spots around campus. This beautifully orange campus is full of them and this helps keep your mind refreshed for the new subjects you are consuming this semester.
Time is on your side
So how do we get through almost 5 months with only one break? You already know the answer: time management. Break out those planners or head to the Student Union Store to pick one up and get to scheduling.
As soon as you get your syllabus, write down when tests and major projects are due. Then try to schedule your study times around that.
Utilize office hours, look at your agenda every day. Little things like this will help you keep your sanity this semester.
